Time-lapse video fun
Posted on March 25, 2007 | Filed Under Local Happenings
My two younger children have been involved in competitive gymnastics for the past five or so years. We’ve recently been involved (as parent volunteers) in getting a new gym off the ground, and I thought it would be fun to give time-lapse video a try while installing the various apparatuses. You can see the results after the break.
I used Adobe Premiere 6.5 to capture frames approximately every 1/10th second over a period of 15 or so hours while the spring floor and tumble track were installed. I then further increased the playback speed to crunch everything down to around 3 minutes.
Adobe chose to drop the time-lapse feature when they introduced Premiere Pro, most likely because it wasn’t used that often. This is the first time I’ve used it in the six years I’ve been using Premiere. It worked great though, so give it a try if you ever have a chance to shoot something interesting!
